Volunteer Job Descriptions

Volunteers bring it all together the day of the event and we need your helping hands to make this event a success! We have numerous volunteer opportunities and we invite you to bring friends and family members to work together and build a brighter future for children and adults with autism. From registration to hospitality to route and rider support, your energy, dedication and hard work will help us Go the Distance for Autism.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age and volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Note that one adult may supervise up to 8 volunteers under the age of 18.

Be a Volunteer

Both Site Volunteers and Road Crew are crucial to the Go the Distance 4 Autism Ride experience.  What’s the difference?  The amount of time you can commit.  If you’re able to commit to the entire Go the Distance 4 Autism Ride day and are 18 or older, please register as a Road Crew member.  Register as a Site Volunteer if you are only able to commit to shorter shifts during event day.

Choose a Road Crew Team

Interested in different ways to participate in the Go the Distance 4 Autism Ride?  If you’re 18 or older, join the Road Crew!  The all-volunteer Road Crew is the team that literally makes the Ride happen.  As a member of the Road Crew, you’ll have specific tasks that span the duration of the event.  If you are unable to commit to the entire event day but would still like to help out, join us as a Site Volunteer.

When choosing a team preference, please keep in mind the physical requirements of the job.  Road Crew work many long hours on their feet and many positions require heavy lifting.  By clicking on a team selection below, you’ll learn the responsibilities and physical requirements of each team.  All positions are listed for the duration of the event and you must be 18 or older to serve on a Road Crew team.  All teams are available on a first-come, first-served basis and team assignments are based on the needs of the event first.  Please be aware that no team is guaranteed availability.

Choose a Site Volunteer Team

During the Event day, Site Volunteers are needed at the start/finish line and family fun area to help register and check in riders, direct traffic, hand out t-shirts, etc.  Click here to see the list of job descriptions and shifts for Site Volunteer jobs at the start/finish site on event day.
